Spotlight: Autumn Brews

autumn-beersIt’s here, it’s here, it’s FINALLY here!!! The arrival of fall means it’s time once again for seasonal autumn brews. Fall beers are more flavorful and more substantial than summer brews. The colors of the ales get richer and the flavors become toastier. Many seasonal fall beers have aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon, apple, yam, pecans caramel, or vanilla. Here are a few types of seasonal beers you can pick up right here at McGonigle’s Market in our wine & spirits section.

Bob’s ’47 Oktoberfest

This Boulevard Brewery brew is only available September through October every year, so you’d better get your hands on some while you still can! It’s a medium-bodied, dark amber beer with a malty flavor and well-balanced hops. This Munich-style lager is crisp and toasty with hints of creamy caramel. This Oktoberfest brew pairs well with spicy food, like sausages and stews, even Mexican foods!

Harvest Dance Wheat Wine

Another Boulevard Brewery selection, this brew is only available in the fall and winter months. It consists of lots of wheat malt, as well as Hallertau and Citra hops. It’s aged in both French and American Oak that helps give this beer a nice oak and vanilla finish. It’s bursting with tropical flavors, with subtle wine-like notes. Harvest ales pair well with cheesy dishes.

Additional Oktoberfest Favorites

In addition to these KC favorites, McGonigle’s is featuring a few Oktoberfest brews from around the globe. In lieu of Oktoberfest, we recommend these Munich brews, Paulaner, Hofbräu, and Hacker Pschorr.
