While many Kansas Citians know McGonigle’s serves lunch every day and faithfully await the opening of the lunch trailer in the parking lot of the McGonigle’s Market on the corner of Ward Parkway and 79th Street, they may not know that McGonigle’s just opened a new BBQ trailer in the historic Stockyards District of the West Bottoms.

What’s Different?

tray of bbq meat and seafood

The West Bottoms trailer will offer the same classic McGonigle’s barbecue menu, with crowd favorites like burnt ends, brisket, baby-back ribs, rotisserie chicken and Italian sausage, but will also include a few seafood items like a smoked salmon sandwich.

“Most people know McGonigle’s as a famous meat market, but we also carry some incredible seafood, so we plan to highlight that on this second truck to see what our customers respond to best,” McGonigle says.

Back to the Bottoms

“It seems only fitting that McGonigle’s come back to the historic cattle yards in the West Bottoms to open our second barbecue trailer,” McGonigle says. “My great-grandfather had an office in the Livestock Exchange Building and my dad was a cattle buyer down here years and years ago.”

So if you work near the West Bottoms area, or find yourself in that neck of the woods around lunch or dinner time, get your bottom over to the McGonigle’s Meat Wagon and chow down!
