What Is Oktoberfest?
Oktoberfest is the largest beer fest in the world with over six million attendees each year! Traditionally held in Munich, Germany, the festival takes place each year during the 16 days leading up to the first weekend in October. This Bavarian tradition dates back all the way to 1810 and has since made its way into American culture as well. #ThankYouGermany
The official drink of the festival is Märzen, a lager that was historically brewed and preserved during the spring and summer months to be enjoyed in the fall. Here are a few of our favorites you can pick up at McGonigle’s today:
1. (Munich, GER)
All the way from Munich, Germany, this amber style beer was developed over 200 years ago to celebrate Oktoberfest. This beer packs a rich malt flavor with notes of dark toffee and an underlying fruitiness. If you’re looking for authenticity, this is the brew for you.
2. Bob’s ‘47 Oktoberfest | Boulevard (Kansas City, MO)
